Reading Teacher Manual | This manual defines and explains the components and time requirements for each lesson. There are simple instructions for teaching through lesson components and routines, key instructional terms and abbreviations, and a scope and sequence of phonics, cursive, and language arts skills.    

Reading Teacher Text | Rafiki teaches reading skills by systematic instruction of phonics and cursive. Students analyze and combine isolated skills, apply them within decodable stories, and learn to apply known phonics skills to unknown texts. The Teacher Text includes 34 week-long lessons. A master page introduces each week’s lessons with Student Objectives, Worldview Integration, Materials, Assessment, Extensions, and Modifications. The master page is followed by Methods instructions for each of Days 1-5 for the week. Methods include Skill Instruction, Read (single word decoding), New Words, Read a Story, and Cursive Practice. Each week includes Copy Work and Dictation exercises. 

Reading Student Text | Student pages include daily Read, New Words, Read a Story, and Cursive Practice. The student text does NOT include lined handwriting paper for cursive practice. Rafiki recommends using a tri-colored line for letter placement and proportion. Transition confident writers to lined paper with a broken middle line.

Cursive Alphabet Cards (5.5” X 8.5”) include 26 landscape-oriented cards displaying upper and lower case cursive letters accurately positioned with a dotted center line. These cards do not include key pictures or words.

Teacher Consonant/Vowel Cards are sets of 26 letters and four consonant digraphs for use during skill instruction and practice. They include vowels, vowel digraphs and diphthongs, consonants, consonant blends and digraphs. Card size is 8.5" X 5.5". 

Student Consonant/Vowel Cards are sets of 26 letters and four consonant digraphs for use during skill instruction and practice. They include vowels, vowel digraphs and diphthongs, consonants, consonant blends and digraphs. Card size is about 2" X 3".
