Overview: In classical education, the study of history is the backbone of the curricula. By studying history in chronological order and integrating other subjects to this core, students can bring order to their understanding of the world and the ways God has worked throughout history to accomplish his glorious purposes and plans. In Grade Level 2, students are taught about historical events, places, and people through engaging stories, arts and crafts, activities, and projects. The Grade Level 2 History course explores the time period from Creation to Christ in a broad overview of the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia and Egypt and focuses on the intersections with the biblical historical narrative of the same time periods.
History Teacher Text and Resource Text includes instructions for scheduling and preparation, explanations for lesson components, and directions for using the resources in the Appendix. Each lesson contains student objectives, biblical worldview integration, a list of needed materials, an introduction, vocabulary words and definitions, methods for instruction and learning activities, informal assessments, and lesson extensions and modifications. The Appendix contains colorful and clearly labeled pictures, art reproductions, maps, and photographs for use during the lesson. The GL7 History Student Text is included as a teacher resource.
